Construction Data Services (CDS) was founded in 2010 by Ron Ciccarone.  After leaving Trimble Navigation, Ron recognized the need within the civil construction and earthmoving industry for data prep services.  Faced with a decision, the contractors purchasing machine control technology either had to train employees on 3D modeling, and hope they built the models correctly, or contract with an experienced data prep technician to produce the models needed for their projects.  This is where Ron filled that niche.  After building a successful and sustainable company for seven years, Ron sold CDS to SITECH South, LLC where he still trains, consults, and shares his expertise in 3D data preparation.

 

As technology and software evolved, CDS has as well.  To accommodate the ever-growing demand for 3D modeling and data preparation services, technicians from the engineering, surveying, and construction industries were added to our staff.  Through this technology, the construction industry has become a more complex world as they have realized the value of machine control technology.  At the request of our clients, services have been added to fulfill their needs, giving us the opportunity to act as their data preparation partner on many of their projects.

 

We are a full-service provider with over one hundred thirty years of combined experience in 3D modeling and data preparation.  Our projects range from simple 2D linework files to the most complex urbanized freeway systems.  We can produce machine control and stakeout files for Trimble, Leica, and Topcon systems.

David Marshall

Survey Technology Manager

 

David has been in the survey and construction industry for over 30 years, becoming a professional land surveyor in 2007.  He ran his own land survey firm before jumping into the heavy civil construction industry where he successfully led survey departments on various construction projects throughout the United States.  In 2010 David was introduced to 3D modeling and machine control and immediately recognized the opportunity this technology brings to the construction industry.  David holds a bachelor’s degree in business management, and continually strives to bring more productivity and efficiency to our team and clients.

 

 

Ron Ciccarone

Founder, Technical Consultant, Data Expert, and Trainer

 

Ron's career spans over 50 years working with engineering, surveying, design, and construction industries.  Ron became a licensed land surveyor in 1977.  Later joining Trimble Navigation and Spectra Precision where he played a key role in the advent of Plus 3 Software, better known as Terramodel.  In 1997 Ron developed the workflows and processes for data preparation, setting the industry standard for what is still used today.  At that time, he traveled the world training people on Terramodel and data preparation.  Then, later was involved in the initial roll out of 3D Machine Control.

 

Employing his wealth of knowledge, Ron founded Construction Data Services in 2010.  Since then, Ron has played an integral role in all things 3D.  By keeping up with all technological advancements in the industry, Ron’s insight and knowledge is key to the success of our team, partners, and clients.

 

 

Richard Quiroga

Estimator/Scheduler

 

Richard is our estimator and scheduler as well as a senior data prep specialist. As a former surveyor and mining engineer, Richard brings an advanced understanding of project constructability as well as extensive experience with 3D modeling. His experience in the field has given him expertise in construction layout, project estimating, utility work, as-builts, topographic surveys, underground mining layout , design/build, and property surveys. Richard is a native of Arizona but calls Alabama his home.

 

 

James Duffy

Data Prep Specialist

 

James has been preparing 3D models and providing data services for construction companies since 2017.  A lifelong resident of Frederick County Maryland, James graduated from UMBC with a BS in computer science.

 

Draven Vasquez

Data Prep Specialist

 

Draven is our intern data prep specialist. As a psychology student at the University of Maryland, Draven focused on running data analyses in research labs for over two years. He uses this training to approach 3D modeling with a unique perspective. Draven has experience creating models for subdivisions, schools, and research facilities.

 

 

Rick Betten

Data Prep Specialist

 

Rick has over 10 years field survey experience in construction layout and holds a degree in computer aided drafting. With his extensive survey and drafting background, Rick brings an advanced understanding of 3D modeling, plan interpretation, and project constructability to the team.  Rick grew up and resides in the Tampa, FL area.
